Hair I love right now: April 2011

My top favorite hair trends right now are messy way hair, pixie cuts, curled hair, braids, and the ombre look. I have found some pictures of each to show you.

First is the Ombre look. I have recently done it on my hair, but I want it to be a little more dramatic. How easy is  it tho, you're natural color can come through meaning less damage on your hair and less time touching up your roots. You can do the look if you have short or long hair.

Now, if you have long hair my absolute favorite trend is a side braid, and personally the messier the better for me! You can have curly, wavy, or straight hair for this trend, and you can do a regular French braid, or my favorite fish tail braid. The first picture is a fish tail braid, and the second is a regular french braid. If I had the fish tail and wanted something a little different, I would hold the two side pieces of hair and pull down the middle strand and it will give you a messier braid.

Next, I am loving the wavy/ curly look. If it is your natural, let it go! I think spring and summer are the times to let your hair do what it wants and be free from styling tools. For me though, I do love to curl my hair with my straightening iron to get the second look, and then I put on an elastic headband  to keep it off my face.

Lastly, a huge trend lately..... the PIXIE!:) I love this, but so very few women get it done. It is such a classic look. The two women I have pictured below are so pretty and pull it off wonderfully! Now, the only thing is I would NOT try the ombre look with the pixie just because its such and amazing cut on its own. But, as you see from the last picture, Michelle Williams has a wavy pixie; which I ADORE!

Hair is fun. Play with it, and make it showcase your best facial feature! Go crazy, let it be natural one day, curl it the next, do a braid, be creative.

Finally Spring

I am so happy that it is finally feeling like spring! I am loving this warm weather, and praying that we dont have another colder week again. With warm weather brings new clothes. So far I am in love with summer dresses, nautical themed outfits, and loose tops, and actually liking crop tops. But, you must have the right build to pull off one, unless you wear a tank top underneath of course. Thinking about the weather makes me want to go to the beach soon. I havent been to a beach in many, many years. Its so sad, because I love the beach. One, day I will live by the beach, hopefully an hours drive tops. But for now, I can dream that I live there and pretend that when i throw on a cute dress and sandals I am heading there, lol.

These are some dresses that I love right now. All are from modcloth.com. The first is just so simple and beautiful. The middle one I can imagine spending an afternoon at the beach or one a boat with a pair of cute flip flops. And, lastly I love this teal dress. You can wear it loose, or with a belt like from the middle dress; and, a pair of dark brown leather sandals.

I love each of these shirts for a different reason. The first one is more of a crop top that you could throw one with some dark wash jeans and cute silver necklaces. The blue one is so girly and pretty. You could wear it with anything; jeans, white shorts, black, or even a splash of color in a pair of shorts. And, the yellow I love because it has that loose feeling that is just so comfy to throw on and run around on a sat afternoon. Id wear it with a pair of cute khaki shorts and some sperrys. Then accessorize it with a cute boyfriend watch, and it the perfect sat outfit.

spring resolution

I cant believe I haven't posted on here in a MONTH!!! That just goes to show you how busy we all can get, and how we hardly take the time to do something you enjoyed doing. This world moves so fast, and we all should take at least one hour just to relax and do something we all really enjoy! Thats what I am challenging myself to do this weekend; its kind of like a spring resolution in a sense. I know in an earlier post I put up pictures of my apartment and i had every intention of posting the updated ones, but again got wrapped up in work. This weekend I WILL put up the new pics with all my favorite knick knacks I bought over the past 2 weekends with help from Stacy!:)
I hope everyone has a great Friday, and that you can take time out of your busy life to do something you truly enjoy doing!

Spring 2011: hair trends

Being a hairstylist I have to keep up on my hair trends for the season, so I thought I'd post them on here too!

What Ive read so far from Fashionisim.com, is that white blonde and red hair are the top trends.

This is from last spring when I went Platinum, I am currently on my way back to being blonde again.

I think Gwyneth Paltrow has to prettiest blonde hair and its so care free looking.
In my personal opinion if you are wanting to try out this trend you may want to go more golden than white depending on your skin tone, and I wouldn't go longer the your collarbone or it looks a little too fake to me.

I think they both have pretty red colored hair too! At the salon today, I actually took my friends hair back to red too, before I red this article today! We did a deeper red with very vibrant red highlights through it. Again, you need to find the right red shade for your skintone. Some people can pull off a very coppery , orangey red while other need to go for a deeper, richer red.

Also, style wise anything easy going and care free are in. The loose waves, the pixie(one of my favorites), bangs, and easy knots, braids, and pony tails are all very easy to do. Also, my favorite for a bad hair day, a cute scarf tied around your head is always a go to look for me when my hair just wont do what I want it to do. Thats what I opted for today, before I got my hair done lol. They give that cute boho feeling to any outfit!
Hair is all about being creative and fun, but you need to know what colors work with your skin type, and what lengths look proportionate on you and with your facial structure.

Humble Abode:before

I have been working on painting and decorating my apartment since we moved in in January. I am going to post recent pictures here soon, but I realized you wouldnt be able to see the entire transformation if you havent seen the "before" pictures. So, tonight I am posting our apartment, the week we moved in.

I have done quite a bit of painting since then and bought some adorable wall art work too. I will post pictures later this week of the after, so far!:)

Office Plan

Now that we have our computer up and running I am really inspired to decorate the office. I can't stand bare, white walls in here any longer. So here's my plan:
I want to paint 3 horizontal stripes across the room in Tiffanys Blue. I stole the idea from my Momma, she painted her upstairs bathroom the same color right before my sister's graduation party. I haven't found the exact shade I want yet, but ill find it soon, im sure. This is an example of the color I am aiming for.

I do have a bed in here already so that this room can double as an office/ guest room. But, I haven't gotten any decorative pillows for it yet. I am going to start sewing again soon, so I figured making these pillows would be a great place to start. I do know that I want at least one of the pillows to have the Fleur De Lis pattern on it because I am also redoing our bar stools in the kitchen with that pattern on the cushion so it will tie it all together. I also am wanting to make some burnt orange colored pillows, black, and maybe some stripped pillows just for fun. Here is the Fleur De Lis pattern I am going to buy from JoAnn Fabrics.
I  have found alot of cute little bird pictures and decorativie items that I want to hang in here also. These are from Modcloth.

I do need a shelf for the bookend above, but I'm sure I can find or make some cute ones for pretty cheap.  Soon I will post some before pictures and after pictures so you all can see how it has turned out.

Rompers: any season

My absolute favorite summer outfit is a little romper! They're so easy to wear and so versatile.I found a few on my new obsession, modcloth.

I love them because you can dress them up or down, and wear them in the different seasons. They're comfortable to wear in the summer with a pair of cute flats and run to the farmers market, to grocery store, or to do some shopping. And, in the winter, wear them with a long sleeve tee and cute textured tights and you're good to go. Some are more dressy than others, but with the right accessories they will look good anytime.
If you're going to wear a scoop neck (numbers 1, 6, 10, and 11), a V neck (number 9), a sweetheart (number 3), or strapless(number 4), you can wear mostly any type of necklace because it is a more open neck line. As far as a romper with a deign on the top( number 2, 5, and 7) you could want to stay away from statement necklaces and stick to something more simple. I personally would wear a nice oversized watch and lots of bangles. And for a one shouldered romper, I personally think that nice statement earrings would be uh-mazing! Or again, my favorite "boyfriend" watch. Although with number 11, becuase it is a higher neck line with the bow pattern I would wear cute diamond studded earrings, or something more simple to that effect.
